A pump deliver command device is provided for commanding the fuel pump (11) for reducing the fuel delivery rate, when the valve-open determination device determines that the pressure relief valve (27) is opened. A fault diagnosing device is provided for diagnosing a defect of the high pressure fuel supply system on the basis of the fuel pressure detected by the fuel pressure detection device.
