<p>The catheter has a port unit (1) implanted into a human/animal body and includes an interior chamber (6) for housing fluid e.g. drug, to be introduced into a hollow organ e.g. blood vessel, of the body. A flexible tube is connected to the port unit and comprises an inner channel (4) conducting the fluid into the hollow organ. An elongated grip piece (19) is removed from the port unit for manipulation of the port unit during implantation of the catheter into the body. The piece enables variation of the flexible tube by rotating a portion of the piece about a longitudinal axis of the piece. An independent claim is also included for a procedure for implanting a port catheter.</p> |
