PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having high convenience and high operability in manual focus. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 101 has: image generating means 6, 12 and 13 generating image data MI based on a signal obtained by photoelectrically converting a first optical image formed by luminous flux incident on an imaging optical system 1 from a subject; split image generating means 9, 27 and 28, generating a split image SI corresponding to a phase difference between two second optical images, based on a signal obtained by photoelectrically converting the two second optical images formed, by two split luminous fluxes of the luminous flux and having the phase difference in accordance with the focal state of the imaging optical system; a partial image generating means 21 generating a partial image LI corresponding to a part of the image data; and a display means 19 displaying the image.
