<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong a service life by suppressing deformation of rubber rollers and improving durability in a printing machine and its control method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: On an ink supply route for feeding ink from ink jars 22, 42 as the supply source to plate cylinders 35, 55, and on a dampening water supply route for feeding dampening water from spray dampeners 81, 91 as the supply source to the plate cylinders 35, 55, there are installed: nip pressure automatic regulators 37, 38, 57, 58, 82, 92 that freely rotatably support rubber rollers and metallic rollers in an abutting state and that are capable of varying the abutting state of the rubber rollers and the metallic rollers; and a controller 61 that controls the nip pressure automatic regulators 37, 38, 57, 58, 82, 92 to separate the rubber rollers and the metallic rollers during the non-printing time.
