<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for suspension characteristic capable of suppressing variation in the motion state amount of a vehicle body caused by distribution variation of a wheel load. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A damping force control device 50 changes a suspension characteristic by controlling a damping force of a damper 6 provided between a vehicle body 1 and each wheel 3. The damping force control device 50 includes: a road surface slant determination part 56 for detecting the slant of the road surface; a wheel load calculation part 63 for detecting the wheel load Le of each wheel 3; and a damping force setting part 52 for controlling the damping force of the damper 6 so as to reduce oscillation of the vehicle body 1 from a detection result of the wheel load calculation part 63 when the slant of the road surface is detected by the road surface slant determination part 56.
