<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten warm-up time and to save occupancy space by reducing the number of members such as a heating roller to be arranged inside arranged inside a heating member, thereby reducing the heat capacity in a fixing unit of an image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing unit 14 includes: an induction heating coil 52 disposed along the outer surface of a heating belt 48; arch cores 54 and side cores 56 forming magnetic paths on both sides of the coil center; a center core 58 disposed in the coil center; and a shielding member 60 disposed along the outer surface of the center core. The center core 58 is divided into a plurality of bock cores 58a and 58b in the axial direction. These block cores 58a and 58b are separately rotated, thereby individually controlling them to switch between the shielding member where the shielding member 60 shields magnetism and a retracted position where the passage of magnetism is allowed.
