<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner with improved stability of a cycle and energy saving performance by resolving deterioration of comfortability and increase of energy consumption due to temporary instability of a refrigerating cycle at resuming of a stopped outdoor unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner 10 is comprised by connecting a plurality of indoor units 12 equipped with at least an indoor expansion valve 31 and an indoor heat exchanger 32, at least a compressor 21, a four-way valve 24, an outdoor heat exchanger 22, and a plurality of outdoor units 11 equipped with an outdoor expansion valve 23 and a liquid tank 25 by a coolant piping 13. It includes a check valve 55 provided between a delivery side of the compressor 21 and the four-way valve 24, and a bypass means 58 connecting the four-way valve 24 and the check valve 55 with the liquid tank 25 via an opening and closing valve 56.
