<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing plug securing a sufficient strength without leaving a member in a sleeve for establishing the strength and reducing the cost while the constitution remains simple. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sealing plug 1 is equipped with: a columnar engagement part 2 having a large wall thickness; a cylindrical portion 3 having a smaller diameter and wall thickness than the engagement part 2; and a flange 4 having a larger diameter than the cylindrical portion 3, and is mounted in a cooling hole 61 in a metal die 6 using a mounting tool 5 furnished with a drawout shaft 51 installed inside a scale pipe 52 and able to advance and retreat freely in the axial direction. The forefront of the drawout shaft 51 and the engagement part 2 are screwed fast, as shown in Fig.5(a), and the flange 4 is abutted to the forefront of the scale pipe 52. The drawout shaft 51 is pulled toward the base end using the mounting tool 5, as shown in Fig.5(b), so as to shorten the spacing of the engagement part 2 and the flange 4, and the cylindrical portion 3 is deformed in such a manner as shrinking in the axial direction.
