The invention relates to converters for converting electromagnetic radiation energy into electric energy and can be used for producing solar photocells. The inventive converter comprises at least one photosensitive layer for generating photo current by absorption of radiation and current-collecting electrodes. The converter also comprises metal nanoparticles, the size of which is of the order of or less than the wavelength in the maximum of the incident radiation spectrum and which make it possible to concentrate said incident radiation in a closest area near the nanoparticles and to generate a photo current while radiation absorption. The invention makes it possible to enhance photo current and to increase the converter performance.
