PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system capable of easily extending a display area irrespective of image specification.

SOLUTION: A display device 1 has a plurality of display panels 11 arranged in a line and connected in series, and connectors for connecting the display panels 11 in series. An image storage section 33 stores a plurality of area image information on a plurality of areas into which the whole image to be displayed on the display device 1 is divided. A panel connection detecting section 21 detects the number of connection of the display panels 11 based on the connected state of the connectors, transmits the number of connection to an image providing device 3 and makes a request for providing image information. An image selecting section 32 selects area image information corresponding to the number of connection from the image storage section 33 in response to the request and transmits the area image information to a display control device 2. An image output section 23 outputs the transmitted area image information to the display panels 11.
