<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting apparatus which can be easily exchanged and of which exchange cost is reduced and scrap quantity is reduced. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lighting apparatus includes: an apparatus body 1 constructed of a case body 1a of which the lower side is open and which has a nearly rectangular box shape laterally long and a cover 3 for closing the opening of the case body 1a; and a ballast unit 2 which supplies lighting power to a lamp 4. The ballast unit 2 has a unit body 2a formed in nearly U-shape and a ballast 11 is installed on the unit body 2a. Screw insertion holes 2c are each provided at both ends in longitudinal direction of the unit body 2a. When screw parts 5 provided in the case body 1a are inserted in the corresponding screw insertion holes 2c, and wingnuts 18 are screwed, the unit body 2a is installed on the case body 1a detachably in a state of supporting the ballast 11.
