PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a uniform weft inserted knitted fabric in a high production efficiency by enabling parallel weaving of a plurality of weft insertion yarns to be simultaneously inserted without mutual intersection. SOLUTION: The method for producing a knitted fabric includes simultaneously inserting and folding back a plurality of wefts (2-1, 2-2 and 2-3) along a course throughout the whole woven width, continuously weaving at least its right and left folded back end parts by warps (4) and restricting the weft insertion yarns. A weft carrier (1) individually guiding the plurality of the wefts (2-1, 2-2 and 2-3) and having the same number of guides as that of the wefts (2-1, 2-2 and 2-3) is reciprocated for each course throughout the whole woven width so that the wefts are inserted mutually in parallel without interfering the wefts each other to knit the knitted fabric.
