PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction roll capable of eliminating a dimensional error of a carrying sheet by preventing wrinkles and bend of the carrying sheet and eliminating suction trace while restraining degradation of suction force of the entire suction roll by completely sucking and releasing the carrying sheet at a desired position. SOLUTION: The suction roll 1 includes a plurality of suction holes 5 opened on the outer circumferential surface of a roll body 3 and sucking the carrying sheet, a negative pressure supply passage 9 formed along an axis of the roll body 3, communicated with the suction holes, and serving as a passage for supplying negative pressure, and a negative pressure releasing means releasing the negative pressure in the negative pressure supply passage.
