<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device capable of suppressing floating amount fluctuation of a magnetic head one around a magnetic disk, and capable of stably performing magnetic recording or reproducing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device includes a reproducing signal obtaining means for obtaining a trial-reading reproducing signal of one round by reading a trial-reading area via a magnetic head 4 before recording or reproducing in a recording area, a driving signal generating means 67 for generating a driving signal according to the signal amplitude change of its one round based on the trial-reading reproducing signal obtained by the reproducing signal obtaining means, and a floating amount adjustment control means 68 for controlling a floating amount adjusting mechanism 41 based on the driving signal generated by the driving signal generating means 67 when recording or reproducing is carried out in the recording area.
