PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step mounting structure capable of being easily attached to a wall part of a cover ring and supplementing mounting strength of a step by cover ring itself. SOLUTION: A side part 2b of the step is provided with a mounting part 9 to be inserted into a mounting hole 3 formed in a wall part 1 of a manhole and a part 37 to be locked formed adjacent to the mounting part 9. The cover ring 8 is provided with a through-hole in its central part, and a locking part 36 being engageable with the part 37 to be locked of the step is formed on a peripheral wall of the through-hole. While the cover ring 8 is mounted and held temporarily in the side part 2b, the mounting part 9 of the step is inserted into the mounting hole 3 of the manhole and is fixed by using adhesive 21. After the adhesive 21 is solidified, the cover ring 8 is pressed into the mounting hole 3 to lock the locking part 36 into the part 37 to be locked. Consequently, a part of the cover ring 8 is fitted into the mounting hole 3 (a hole part 3d) to increase mounting strength of the step and cover an opening part of the mounting hole 3 with the cover ring 8.
