PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing treatment for an axial flow compressor, having a simple shape and lower machining cost for compatibly improving the stall allowance and improving the efficiency, while reducing the thickness of a casing and suppressing an increase in the weight of the casing. SOLUTION: The casing treatment 10 is a single slit which is provided in the inner face of the casing 2 extending all over in the peripheral direction and whose depth is smaller than the width. The slit 10 is provided at a position as a design point across impact waves which are generated between moving blades. The slit is a rectangular slit having a depth D and a width L. A downstream end 10b of the rectangular slit is located at an impact wave position as a design point on the center of a blade-blade flow path. The impact wave position is a middle point of the geometrical throat part of the blade-blade flow path or the center of a first inscribed circle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
