PURPOSE: A device for detecting positions of a crank and a cam in a spark ignition engine into which a compression ignition engine is converted and a spark ignition engine having the same are provided to minimize the unnecessary change of an engine management system by designing a position detecting apparatus and a crank to be compatible with an used engine management system. CONSTITUTION: A device(100) for detecting positions of a crank and a cam in a spark ignition engine into which a compression ignition engine comprises a target wheel, a crank position sensor, and a cam position sensor. The target wheel is operated with a timing belt(10) and is rotated. A first part to be detected and a second part to be detected are formed on the target wheel. The crank position sensor senses the first part to be detected and detects the crank position. The cam position sensor senses the second part to be detected and detects the cam position. The first and second parts to be detected are formed on the target wheel.
