PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that prevents the occurrence of ripples in multi-domain formation. SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal display device 1, a pixel 3 forming a display part 2 includes at least a pair of substrates 12, 29 opposite to each other with a liquid crystal layer 26 held between them and a common electrode 22 and a pixel electrode 24, which are provided on one substrate 12 of the paired substrates 12, 29 to drive liquid crystal molecules M of a liquid crystal layer 26 disposed with an insulating film 23 sandwiched between them. The electrode 24 on the liquid crystal layer 26 side of the common electrode 22 and the pixel electrode 24 has a slit S including a first opening 71 inclined at a predetermined angle to the rubbing direction R and a second opening 72 connected to one end of the first opening 71 and taking an axis orthogonal to the rubbing direction R as a symmetrical axis A as viewed in a plane. The slit S has an inclining part K inclined at a larger angle of inclination than a predetermined angle to the rubbing direction R in the vicinity of the symmetrical axis A.
