PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recycling magnesium hydroxide by which magnesium hydroxide can be recycled as magnesium carbonate MgCO<SB>3</SB>and CO<SB>2</SB>can be more easily and stably fixed as MgCO<SB>3</SB>as compared to deep-sea storage and underground storage. SOLUTION: In the method for recycling magnesium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide produced by hydrolysis is recovered from a fuel cell system which performs electric generation by generating hydrogen gas by hydrolysis of magnesium hydride, and the recovered magnesium hydroxide is recycled. The method for recycling magnesium hydroxide includes a thermal decomposition step of thermally decomposing recovered magnesium hydroxide into magnesium oxide and water by heating the magnesium hydroxide, and a magnesium carbonate production step of producing magnesium carbonate by bringing carbon dioxide into contact with the magnesium oxide formed by the thermal decomposition.
