EMERGENCY SYSTEM AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide emergency information, in particular, that is relevant for a particular location when broadcasting emergency information into a cell and providing information relating to an emergency situation.

SOLUTION: A system and a method are for receiving local emergency information on a mobile device 8 in a system comprising a telecommunication network 2 and at least one local communication network 5 comprising one or a plurality of wireless access points WAP1-WAP5. The mobile device 8 receives a general emergency signal over a broadcast channel of the telecommunication network 2. In response to the general emergency signal, the mobile device 8 is connected to one of the wireless access points WAP1-WAP5 and transmits a request for transmitting the local emergency information to the mobile device. The mobile device 8 then receives the local emergency information from one of the wireless access points WAP1-WAP5.
