PURPOSE: A method for transmitting font data and a contents server therefor are provided to read and store font data from contents received through MM-CISS in an incoming terminal to enable the incoming terminal to apply font data, thereby writing a text such as a short message and a multimedia message. CONSTITUTION: A contents server(120) connected to a mobile communication system includes a font data receiver, a contents reader, a font application encoder, and a font application contents transmitter. The font data receiver receives font data from an internet terminal(105) or an originating terminal(100) or selection of font data. The contents reader reads contents from a contents DB(125). The font application encoder generates font application contents by including font data in contents.
