<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump device having the high efficiency of a motor portion, reducing a sliding loss significantly, and obtaining stable operational characteristics even if used in either of upper and lower directions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the pump device 1 of a peripheral pump structure, when a rotor 50 with a vane rotates at a rated number of rotations, the rotor 50 with the vane receives air pressure in both the thrust directions, and a rotating shaft 3 rotates at a position where the air pressure of those become equal. In such a rated rotation state, a magnetic center C1 in the thrust direction of a rotor magnet 42 and a magnetic center C2 in the thrust direction of a stator 60 are configured to be at the same position in the thrust direction.
