The tool (1) has a handle piece (3) in which a bit holder (2) is fastened, where the bit holder is magnetic and includes a central longitudinal recess provided along a longitudinal axis of the bit holder. The recess is suitable to accurately-fit a section (4') of a fuse element (4) e.g. cotter pin or mounting pin, that is made of a magnetic material, where an outer contour of the section of the fuse element corresponds to a form of the recess. An adapter is arranged between the handle piece and the bit holder. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a fuse element in a workpiece using an assembly tool.
