[Class 20 (iii).] The upper sash of pivoted sliding windows is guided by pin-and-groove engagement with the frame and has a stop-bar 17 which prevents tilting of the sash when the pivot rests in the upper notch 29 and allows tilting when the sash is in the lower notch 30. The lower sash is guided by pins 21 and guides 22 and is fastened beneath the upper sash when closed by pivoted catches 13 and cam slots 14 by which both sashes are pressed against the outer beads. A handle 11<1> and a pin on the frame adapted to engage an aperture therein may be provided. The balancing device consists of spring- controlled screw-traversed shaft 31 and cables and drums thereon of the kind described in Specification 390,070. |
