<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system which attains further improvement in crime prevention property by carrying out a separate operation different from a warning operation or a normal imaging operation in a case where a camera is covered with a hand or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An intercom master unit 3 comprises a luminosity measuring section 21 for measuring the luminosity of a video image captured by a camera 4 and a state where the camera 4 is covered with a hand or the like can be detected in accordance with a state where the luminosity of the video image becomes lower than or equal to a predetermined threshold. In a case where such a state is detected, a warning message that "Do not place any object in front of camera" or the like is issued via a speaker 6 of an intercom slave unit 2.
