The method involves partially determining nature and location of a transmission problem for a current flow by a tunnel end point to obtain premier problem information by analysis of the current flow. Secondary problem information provoking from another tunnel end point and resulting from another partial determination of the problem is received. The nature and the location of the problem are finally determined by combining two problem information. Transmission improvement mechanisms are managed based on the final determined results. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising instructions to perform a method for managing transmission improvement mechanisms that improve transmission of data flow on a tunnel supported by a main communication network (2) a storage unit comprising instructions to perform a method for managing transmission improvement mechanisms that improve transmission of data flow on a tunnel supported by a main communication network (3) a tunnel end point for managing transmission improvement mechanisms that improve transmission of data flow on a tunnel supported by a main communication network.
