<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head slider for enhancing electromagnetic conversion characteristics of the head slider by improving floating characteristics of a head slider, thereby preventing a medium from being damaged by burrs or the like stuck to the surface of the head slider. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the head slider comprises: a process for forming a terminal 32 on a flow-in end plane of air of a row bar 27; a process for forming a resist pattern conforming to a pattern forming an ABS part on a plane facing to the medium of the row bar 27, and forming ABS parts 14a, 14b by digging the row bar 27 to a Groove plane 16 making the resist pattern as a mask; and a process for forming substrate layers 38a, 38b of the STEP part on the Groove plane 16, forming a heater circuit 40 by connecting electrically with the terminal 32 on the substrate layers 38a, 38b, and forming the STEP parts 15a, 15b by coating the substrate layers 38a, 38b on which the heater circuit 40 is formed by thermal expansion material layers 42a, 42b.
