A fluid treatment system comprises a plurality of bulk material beds (9) which are arranged next to one another and are operated in parallel. The fluid which is to be treated flows through at least one bulk material bed essentially from the bottom to the top while the bulk material migrates through the bulk material bed or a plurality of bulk material beds essentially from the top to the bottom in counterflow to the fluid. This is brought about by partial quantities of bulk material being removed at the lower end of the bulk material bed and partial quantities of bulk material being fed to the bulk material bed at the upper end thereof. A plurality of the bulk material beds are connected to one another by a common horizontal charging channel (11). At least one charging carriage (19) which is provided with optionally closable bulk material outlets can be moved through the charging channel (11) between a charging position (28) and a plurality of feeding positions of the bulk material parts above the bulk material beds. Bulk material conducting pipes (50) are provided below the bulk material outlets and the bulk material shutoff member (23) of the charging carriage (19), the bulk material outlet openings (51) of which conducting pipes end on bulk material cones (9K) of a bulk material bed (9) located therebelow. |
