<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone which includes an organic EL display, in which deterioration in a specific element in this organic EL display is prevented suppressing power consumption and the degree of freedom of display is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The portable telephone includes a setting means (S103) setting a timer and displaying display luminance either to a first mode or a second mode whose luminance is lower than that of the first mode when a lapse of a prescribed time in a non-operation state is noticed by the timer that the first mode is set; and a display control means displaying a display screen of this display thinning when a display is set to the second mode.
