Noise insulator for gas pipe system

The noise insulator comprises a tubular encased section (1) of gas channel and is divided into areas through a structuring of its outer wall. In the tubular section, the sound waves spreading in the gas channel in an axial main direction are transversally alternatingly compressed and relaxed, together with being longitudinally multiply reflected. The tubular section at locations (2,2',2'') of the greatest transversal compression of the sound waves has a cross-section virtually in the form of a cycloid. At locations (3,3',3'') of the greatest transversal relaxation of the sound waves, the tubular section has a virtually circular cross-section. Double the distance between two adjacent locations (3,3',3'') corresponds to an odd number multiple of half a wavelength of the sound to be damped. Each cross-section component formed between the locations of maximum relaxation also has virtually the form of a cycloid.
