PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for (back)washing filtration equipment, wherein a filtrate tank is prevented from being brought into a state in which its filtration resistance R overshoots its (back)washing initiation filtration resistance RH even in the case of rapid fouling, and therefore man-free operation of equipment is made possible. SOLUTION: A method for automatically (back)washing filtration equipment composed of 2 or more filtrate tanks 1 connected in parallel with each other is provided. The filtration resistance R of each filtrate tank 1 and its rising rate RV are measured with water level meters 8, and pre-estimation times Rt by the time when the filtration resistance R of each filtrate tank reaches its (back)washing initiation filtration resistance RH are individually calculated. Based on the relationship between the Rt of each filtration water tank 1 and the time Wt necessary to (back)wash the filtrate tank 1, the (back)washing of the filtration water tank having the highest filtration resistance R is initiated before the filtration resistance R reaches the (back)washing initiation filtration resistance RH.
