<p>PURPOSE: A display unit and a method for protecting a lamp are provided to minimize failure due to early lights-out and maximize the use time of the lamp by minimizing the damage in a lamp operation. CONSTITUTION: A lamp driver(110) drives a lamp(100). The protection time information is stored in a memory unit(120). A first controller checks the time elapsed form the turn-on time of the lamp. A second controller determines the power off by comparing the turn-on time of the lamp and the protection time information if the power off command is inputted from the outside.</p> |
