PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating which forms a soft and easy-to-process thick film type coat and hardly causes blocking, when used in a coated metal material, and a method of producing a coat using the coating. SOLUTION: A polyester-modified thermally polymerizable acrylic coating contains a non-crystallizable polyester-based polymer (A) having a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000-40,000, a glass transition temperature Tg of -20-60°C, and a specific gravity at 30°C of≤1.23, a (meth)acrylic-based monomer (B), a polymerization initiator, and a melamine resin. The B contains≥10 mass% of a compound expressed by general formula (1) and the like. The A and B are mixed in the coating in a mass ratio of A:B=10:90-90:10.
