<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump capable of restraining cooling water leaked from a seal part of a mechanical seal from flowing to the outside of the water pump. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A spiral groove 24a which is a sawtooth-shaped single threaded spiral is formed at an inner periphery of a drain hole 23 formed on a body 10. The spiral groove 24a is formed to be connected to a bottom 26 from an opening 25 of the drain hole 23. When leaked cooling water enters the spiral groove 24a, it is transmitted toward the opening 25 and the bottom 26 at the inner periphery of the drain hole 23 along the spiral groove 24a by a capillary phenomenon. Therefore, it takes a time until the leaked cooling water flows to the outside from the opening 25, and a time for drying the cooling water leaked during that time can be obtained.
