<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information display apparatus and a program information display method that enables search with less noise and high accuracy for a need to know a name of a performer corresponding to a face on a screen when viewing the program. <P>SOLUTION: In the program information display apparatus 100, a representative feature amount determination part 109 determines a representative feature amount and its reliability based on the feature amount of the extracted image and source information of the related image, and a performer information management part 104 associates the determined representative feature amount and reliability with the performer's name and manages them as performer information. A display image acquisition part 102 obtains the display image from frames making up a moving image. A feature amount calculation part 111 calculates the feature amount of the extracted image for the display image. A searching part 105 calculates the similarity of the feature amount of the extracted image with the representative feature amount to acquire the performer's name associated with the representative feature amount. A display information generating part 106 generates display information based on the reliability or the similarity and region of the extracted image.
