PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact dust removing apparatus equipped with a plurality of filtration units that employ a filter medium formed of a noninflammable or flame-retardant fiber, or of a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric having been treated to make it noninflammable or flame retardant, as a filter medium having high efficiency of catching dust, dirt, or particulate contaminants contained in air and having a prolonged replacement cycle resulting from its enhanced capability of catching them in a greater amount. SOLUTION: The dust removing apparatus 10 that cleans air by catching particulate contaminants, dust, and the like in air, is equipped with a plurality of filtration units 20 disposed inside its casing 11 in close proximity with each other. The dust removing apparatus 10 is made compact in spite of its high dust removing capacity attained by disposing a gas-permeable spacer 18 between each pair of neighboring filtration units 20 so that the filter mediums 30 of the individual neighboring filtration units 20 are forcibly separated from each other to prevent their mutual contact thus securing gas flow across the whole outer surface of the filter medium 30.
