<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration detecting unit which makes it possible to dissolve a fault that the position of the center of gravity thereof varies for each product, by simple adjusting work, and also an acceleration sensor, in regard to the acceleration sensor equipped with the acceleration detecting unit having a structure wherein both end parts of a tuning bifork vibration element are supported by a support member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The acceleration detecting unit includes a support member 2 which has a thick-walled fixed end part 3 supported by a fixed-side base 40 and not being displaced by impression of acceleration, a thin-wall beam 4 having one end fixed to the fixed end part and a thick-walled free end part 5 fixed to the other end of the beam, and with a stress-sensitive element 10 which has a stress-sensitive part and also fixed ends integrated respectively with the opposite end parts of the stress-sensitive part and of which the two fixed ends are fixed respectively to the fixed end part and the free end part of the support member. The beam is so constituted that it has such a flexibility that it can be so deformed as to displace the free end part in the direction of the acceleration detection axis when the acceleration is impressed on the support member, and the unit includes a weight balance adjusting mechanism 20 which adjusts the position of the center of gravity of the support member.
