A computer-implemented method for generating a storyboard image is disclosed. The method comprises retrieving three-dimensional image data defining at least one three-dimensional object; rendering the three-dimensional image data from a predefined viewpoint to generate two-dimensional background image data including a two-dimensional representation of the or each three-dimensional object visible from the predefined viewpoint; and superimposing two-dimensional foreground image data over the two-dimensional background image data to generate a composite two-dimensional image representing the storyboard image.
