PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily form an appropriate square form on processing a curved spine of a booklet in which a bundle of recording materials is folded at the center into a square form even in the case that the swelling state of the center-folded booklet becomes different depending on the number of the recording materials, the quality of the materials and image density and the like. SOLUTION: The recording material post-processing device is provided with a constraint means 2 for constraining the neighborhood of the spine 1a of the booklet 1 in which the bundle of recording materials is folded at the center and arranging the spine 1a of the booklet 1 to protrude from a booklet constrain position, a pressing means 3 for pressing the spine 1a of the booklet 1 constrained by the constraint means 2 to form a flat spine surface from a curved spine surface, a swelling quantity determining means 4 for determining a swelling quantity of the center-folded booklet 1 in its thickness direction before being constrained by the constrain means 2 and an adjust means 5 for adjusting the booklet constrain position by the constrain means 2 so that a spine protruding quantity d from the booklet constrain position by the constrain means 2 becomes larger in proportion to the swell quantity based on the determination result by the swell quantity determining means 4.
