PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly output a result of detecting a face image.

SOLUTION: A control part 20 of a digital camera 10 is configured as a target image detection device for detecting a face image from among photographic images. The control part 20 is provided with: an image acquisition part 22 for acquiring the photographic image; a condition determination part 23 for determining detection conditions different from previous one of the plurality of detection conditions for detecting the face image; a face detection part 24 for detecting the face image under detection conditions determined by the condition determination part 23 for the photographic image obtained by the image acquisition part 22; and a position information output part 26 for outputting the position information of the detected face image to the image composition part 17.
