摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of conventional optical scanners using bearings wherein, although vibrating mirrors using micromachining techniques are employed because of limits on speed increases, variations of a characteristic frequency that each vibrating mirror has increase despite the advantage of excellent productivity due to the layout of a plurality of vibrating mirrors on an Si wafer and simultaneous machining of a plurality of wafers through batch processing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an optical scanner, a synchronization sensor 307 is set in a fixed position within an area of a scanning line 305 formed by the drive of a vibrating mirror 302. A frequency given to the vibrating mirror 302 is swept within a drivable range. The difference between the time when an optical beam passes the sensor 307 on its way forward and the time when the beam passes the sensor on its way back varies depending on the magnitude of amplitude and is at its maximum when the characteristic frequency matches.
