<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device, a method for managing message information, a program and a radio communication system, which stabilize communication by setting the time for holding the message information according to a communication state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The communication device includes: a communication section performing radio communication with an external device: a storage section for storing node information recording the information on the receiving statuses of packets transmitted from the external devices and the message information transmitted from the external devices and used for specifying a topology of a network for each external device; a node information updating section updating the node information corresponding to the external devices in a transmission source transmitting the packets on receipt of the packets in the communication section; and a message information managing section deriving the holding times of the message information stored in the storage section at each fixed period on the basis of the node information stored in the storage section and selectively deleting the message information from the storage section on the basis of the derived holding times.
