The air filter cartridge (10) comprises a sensor (16) for detecting degree of dampness. A transponder (18) is provided, which is arranged with an antenna (20) and a memory (22). The transponder is coupled with the sensor. The transponder comprises a temperature sensor for measuring a desiccant temperature. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a filter monitoring system for a compressed air processing system of a vehicle; and (2) a method for operating a filter monitoring system of a compressed air processing system of a vehicle.
