<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser ignition device capable of varying an ignition position to a proper position while excelling in responsiveness and vibration proof and applicable also to a high-speed rotation engine device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An ECU 11 controls a two-dimensional acoustooptic deflector 3 according to the combustion condition of a combustion chamber and deflects a laser beam to a given position in a two-directional direction of a multifocal lens unit 5 to focus the laser beam on an optimum ignition position in the combustion chamber. The two-dimensional acoustooptic deflector 3 deflecting the laser beam includes no mechanical operation part, therefore can quickly vary the ignition position according to the combustion condition and hardly receives a bad influence from vibrations accompanied with rotation. The laser ignition device can thus vary the ignition position to a proper position while excelling in responsiveness and vibration proof and is applicable also to the high-speed rotation engine device.
