PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope braking device of an elevator capable of always monitoring whether a trigger operation limiting mechanism for limiting a trigger operation is accurately operated. SOLUTION: The rope braking device of the elevator 6 includes a rope brake 7 for restricting a main rope 3, a trigger 8 for keeping the rope brake 7 in an open state, and a trigger operation limit mechanism 26 for limiting the operation of the trigger 8. The operation of the trigger operation limit mechanism 26 is confirmed by a trigger operation limit mechanism switch 22.
