PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel assist device, a travel assist method and a travel assist program for performing route search (travel plan) to encourage safe driving to a driver based on a degree of awakening. SOLUTION: The travel assist device 1, for showing the optimal travel route to a driver by searching the route based on map data depending on a destination, is equipped with: a sleepiness database 5 having a past travel route information, including the destination information, and sleepiness data consisting of the degree of awakening at every time of measurement to the driver with respect to the travel route; a dynamic awakening degree judgment part 12 for measuring the degree of awakening at every time with respect to the travel route, based on a heart beat interval of the driver, and recording it the sleepiness database; and the travel planning creation part for choosing the route, in which the degree of awakening is not deteriorated below the designated value, as a recommended route among a plurality of routes stored in association with this destination in the sleepiness database when the destination already recorded in the sleepiness database is set up as a new destination in searching for the route.
