<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web conveying device and a web splicing method can surely splice a web cut place irrespective of an operator's skill for shortening the recovery time of the web conveying device upon occurrence of a web cut. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The web conveying device 1 is provided with a suction roller 2 (or suction roller 3) having a suction part 14 (or suction part 24) sucking a web 7 and conveys the web 7 along the peripheral surface of the suction roller 2 (or suction roller 3). A groove part 15 (or groove part 25) parallel to a roller shaft 2b (or roller shaft 3b) is provided on the peripheral surface of the suction roller 2 (or suction roller 3), and a guide part 16 (or guide part 26) perpendicular to the roller shaft 2b (or roller shaft 3b) is provided on the peripheral surface of the suction roller 2 (or suction roller 3).
