<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which optical performance of a plastic optical element is improved without changing the processing method of the plastic optical element (without incurring a cost increase due to the change of a processing method). Ž<P>SOLUTION: An fθ lens 6 as a plastic optical element has a recess 15 as a non-transfer face formed by a predetermined method at a part other than a transfer face. In Fig. 6(a), a numeral 26 denotes the light incident face (transfer face) of the fθ lens 6, a numeral 27 denotes a light exit face (transfer face), a numeral 28 denotes the center of the outer shape and a numeral 29 denotes the optical axis center in the shorter side direction thereof. On the fθ lens 6, the optical axis center 29 in the shorter side direction is shifted from the center 28 of the outer shape of the fθ lens 6 toward the non-transfer face 15.
