<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step guard with illumination display capable of efficiently converging a small energy light source of an LED by a light guide body, and illuminating characters and patterns at high brightness without irregularity by reducing the thickness of a section of the light guide body in a wedge shape from an incident end face to a reflective end face, and forming an irregular reflection layer of a satin-finished pattern changed from a coarse grain to a fine grain on a back side of the light guide body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the step guard with illumination display, an opaque light-emitting panel having an operation hole is covered from an upper part of a character plate, a light guide body is provided on a back side of the character plate, an opaque reflecting plate is provided so as to wrap the light guide body from its lower side, and an LED light source is arranged at a position opposite to an incident end face of the light guide body. The thickness of a section of the light guide body is reduced from the incident end face toward the reflecting end face, the back side of the light guide body is formed in a satin-finished pattern, and the surface roughness of the back side becomes fine from the incident end face side toward the reflecting end face side.
