PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive manufacturing method of a parallel shaft gear mechanism. SOLUTION: This reduction gear 24 as the parallel shaft gear mechanism has first and second shafts 31 and 32 mutually arranged in parallel, a driving gear 26 arranged to be co-rotatable with the first shaft 31, a first intermediate gear 27A arranged to be co-rotatable with the second shaft 32 and meshing with the driving gear 26, and self-lockable first and second nuts 42 and 46 threadedly engaged with its screw parts 83 and 93 for fixing inner rings 75 and 85 of bearings 40 and 44 to the first and second shafts 31 and 32. This manufacturing method is provided for fastening and fixing the first and second nuts 42 and 46 to the screw parts 83 and 93 of the corresponding first and second shafts 31 and 32 in a state of meshing the driving gear 26 and the first intermediate gear 27A and of regulating rotation of the first shaft 31 by a second holding tool 132.
